Balltris swaps the standard blocky shapes of classic puzzle games for cascading balls of color. Players tilt and shift groups of one to three balls as they fall, arranging them in a cup-shaped grid. The goal is to line up three or more matching colors in a row to clear them. Simple controls let you slide or flip the incoming clusters, but the pace quickens as the grid fills. The DOS-era presentation keeps things stripped down, focusing on the addictive chain reactions that come from planning ahead and spotting color patterns. This 1994 release carved out a niche with its fresh twist on falling-block mechanics. While it lacks modern polish, its straightforward design and growing difficulty curve kept players engaged during its heyday. Casual fans of puzzle games might find its rhythm familiar but pleasantly distinct. The single-player format and short learning curve make it easy to pick up, though the lack of online leaderboards or multiplayer modes feels dated. Still, the core loop of matching and clearing remains satisfyingly snappy.
