Barnstorming is a simple but tricky arcade racer that puts you in a biplane racing through rows of barns. Your goal is to zip from start to finish as fast as possible without hitting windmills, spinning weather vanes, or wandering geese. Every collision slows your plane, adding seconds to your time. The game’s four modes scale in difficulty, with the final level throwing in random obstacle placements to keep things fresh. Early levels let you memorize layouts, but later ones demand quick reflexes and split-second decisions. What sticks out is how straightforward the design is. There’s no frills, just tight controls and a clear challenge. The fixed courses in the first three modes make it easy to chase personal bests, while the random fourth mode adds replay value. For a 1982 Atari 2600 title, it holds up as a pure test of speed and precision. Short, sharp, and surprisingly addictive for a game about dodging farm equipment.
