Bat 'n Ball is a fast-paced arcade game where you wield a bat to protect a castle from a relentless bouncing ball. The ball bounces around the screen breaking bricks and targeting the castle's core. Each hit weakens the structure and costs you a life. You start with three bats and must outlast waves of attacks across 20 increasingly difficult levels. Defend the castle long enough to watch opponents crumble and advance to new screens filled with faster balls and trickier layouts. Simple controls mask the game's punishing difficulty. The final level adds an unexpected twist that has frustrated players since its 1995 DOS release. With no continues and a ball that only grows more aggressive, success requires split-second timing and patience. Many still debate strategies for surviving that last screen over 25 years later.
