Battle Knights has you control Wonder a blue knight fighting to merge separate color-themed worlds. It plays like a stripped down retro platformer with moves limited to jumping blocking and attacking. The simplicity hides a sharp difficulty curve that keeps things tense even as you memorize patterns. Each level is a gauntlet of enemies and hazards that test your timing and reflexes. The game includes four distinct modes ranging from a main campaign to competitive and endurance challenges. Up to four players can join in co op or go head to head in local matches. Released in 2016 it still feels lean and focused with no bloated mechanics. Runs on PC Xbox One and Linux. The straightforward design and varied gameplay options make it a solid pick for short sessions or longer marathons.
