Battle of Rebels is a first- and third-person shooter from Funbox Media Ltd that dropped in August 2025. It’s all about clearing zombie-infested downtown zones while battling alien bosses to disable cloning machines. Available on PlayStation 4/5, PC, and Switch, it supports single-player, co-op, and multiplayer. The elevator pitch? A no-frills, wave-based shooter where teamwork or solo grit is your best bet. It’s the winner of the Unreal Florida Game Competition, which might explain the polished chaos. If you’ve ever wanted to blast through hordes of undead while dodging a biomechanical alien overlord, this is your jam.
You’ll spend most sessions mopping up endless zombie hordes in first or third-person, switching weapons like shotguns, SMGs, or grenades to survive. Each level follows a formula: clear waves, kill a boss, grab the Access Key, repeat. The real grind comes in the later stages where bosses combine ranged attacks with close-range brutality. Co-op play adds a layer of coordination, you’ll need to cover flanking positions while someone tanks the boss. Multiplayer modes pit teams against each other, but the core loop stays rooted in wave defense. Controls are responsive, but the AI sometimes teleports you through walls. It’s not the most original shooter, but the pacing keeps it from dragging.
PlayPile’s data shows a 88% completion rate with an average playtime of 14 hours. Community moods are split between Tense (72%), Challenging (68%), and Fun (59%). Critics gave it an 8.2/10, praising the co-op mechanics but calling the enemy design repetitive. One user wrote, “Boss fights are wild but the zombies feel like filler.” Achievements average 35 hours to 100%, though most players peak at 63% completion. The $29.99 price tag makes it a low-risk buy, but reviews on Steam suggest it’s a “short, punchy experience” rather than a long-term grind.
Battle of Rebels is best for players craving a quick, chaotic co-op shooter fix. It’s not impressive, but the boss battles and cross-platform play make it worth a look for fans of wave defense. If you’re on a budget and don’t mind a 14-hour campaign, the $30 price is forgiving. Skip if you want depth or originality, this is a solid, if unambitious, romp through zombie-filled downtowns. The 35-achievement cap adds a bit of replay, but it’s not a must-play for everyone.
Aliens have planted human cloning machines in the DOWNTOWN areas that corrupt the human DNA and turn them into zombies. We have to disable the machines but the task is not easy, first the area where the machines have been planted should be cleared from zombies. Once the area has been cleared the Alien Boss arrives. In order to gain the Access key, you have to kill the BOSS. Once the BOSS is killed you will get the Access key which you can use to disable the machine.
