B.C.'s Quest for Tires drops you in a prehistoric race against time. As Thor, you hurdle rivers, dodge lava pits, and leap over trees to free a captured character from a dinosaur's clutches. The controls are simple but tricky, jumping and ducking requires precise timing. Duck too early and your character bounces, wasting precious seconds. Each level scrolls sideways through hazards that mix comic strip absurdity with platformer challenges. Two players can team up, though co-op play means sharing one screen and hoping your partner doesn’t block your path. This 1983 title hit nearly every major 8-bit system from Apple II to ColecoVision, making it one of the most widely available games of its era. While not a technical standout by modern standards, it holds a cult following among retro fans for its chaotic charm and ties to the long-running BC newspaper comic. Its mechanics feel derivative of Moon Patrol but manage to stay engaging through repetitive, speed-focused gameplay. With a 72% on the AtariAge user ratings and minimal polish, it’s a throwback best approached as a curiosity or for those nostalgic for early ’80s arcade-style action.
