Behind Enemy Lines is a first person rail shooter where you man a mounted machine gun on a moving jeep. Your job is to blast through four missions targeting enemy bases, using a gun that switches between bullets and missiles. Movement is fixed but you aim freely, tracking foot soldiers jeeps tanks and helicopters as they pop into view. Ammo never runs out but fires slower when low forcing you to destroy crates for replenishment. Missiles require specific targets like aircraft and heavy vehicles locking automatically when aimed. Fuel collection adds another layer as running dry costs points. Up to two players can join each controlling a separate gun. The game stands out for its straightforward action and co op focus. Set in a modern conflict zone it balances simplicity with satisfying mechanics like ammo management and missile targeting. While rail shooters were common in arcades this one carved a niche with its vehicle based combat. Community interest remains modest but dedicated with retro fans noting its clean controls and paired gameplay. Released in late 1997 it holds a quiet spot in the genre’s history.
