Bellhop is a fast-paced arcade game where you navigate a six-story hotel to deliver luggage to the right floors. As the bellhop, you hop between levels using elevators or stairs, collecting bags and dropping them off before they pile up. The challenge comes from balancing speed with accuracy, miss a delivery or take too long and chaos ensues. Simple controls and a top-down view keep the action tight, with the Apple II's hardware putting a retro spin on the chaos. Despite its age, Bellhop’s straightforward design feels surprisingly polished for 1982. It lacks modern frills but nails the arcade formula: quick to learn, hard to master. The lack of save states means every run is a fresh sprint, and the single-player focus keeps it personal. While not a genre-definer, it’s a forgotten gem that holds up as a brisk, no-frills test of reflexes. Its charm lies in how it turns mundane hotel work into a frantic, satisfying race against time.
