Binarystar Infinity is a high-speed 1-bit shooter that lets you switch between vertical and horizontal scrolling on the fly. Play alone against waves of enemies or team up locally for co-op, with optional friendly fire to crank up the chaos. The controls are tight and responsive, focusing on quick reflexes and precise dodging. Each of the eight missions throws new biomes and hazards at you, ending with a boss fight designed to test your skills. Power-ups and weapon upgrades add layers to the gameplay but never overshadow the core challenge. The game leans heavily into retro aesthetics with its pixelated visuals and chiptune soundtrack, drawing comparisons to titles like Downwell. Its dual-scrolling mechanic offers fresh variety without complicating the experience. While the single-player campaign is tough, the co-op mode balances it out with shared difficulty and couch-friendly simplicity. With over 20 enemy types and unlockable modes like Survival and Boss Rush, there’s extra value for those who stick around. The 8-bit style and synthwave music by Christophe Leipp-Casallès keep the energy high throughout.
