Biomass: Extermination is a first-person shooter built around fast paced combat against hostile alien swarms. You take control of a lone soldier fighting through overrun cities and ruined research labs, using a variety of guns and explosives to clear out mutated creatures and their mechanical guardians. The game emphasizes twitchy reflexes and environmental awareness with limited respawns forcing steady progression through each level. This project was crafted entirely by one person using Unreal Engine which shows in both the detailed textures and sometimes rough gameplay balance. The enemy patterns are surprisingly dynamic for a solo effort with bosses that combine ranged attacks and physical threats. While lacking multiplayer or long term progression it holds together as a 10 hour challenge run through a grim sci fi setting with a decent amount of explosive set pieces.
