About

Blackout: The Darkest Night is a narrative-driven RPG where your decisions shape a fragmented story of mystery and cosmic horror. Playing as a man with a shattered memory, you wander the eerie streets of New Wenders, piecing together a dark past through branching choices. Each chapter unfolds in a distinct setting, with the order and content shifting based on what you prioritize. The game leans into ambiguity, letting you decide how much to confront the grotesque truths lurking beneath the surface. Exploration and dialogue drive progression, with puzzles and moral dilemmas blending into the atmosphere of dread. The game’s strength lies in its reactive storytelling. Choices don’t just alter dialogue but ripple across locations, creating wildly different outcomes on repeat plays. With nine possible endings reported by players, the 10-15 hour runtime offers strong replay value for those craving branching paths. Running on PC Switch Linux and Mac since 2021 it’s a niche title praised by indie fans for its Lovecraftian tone and nonlinear structure. The lack of hand-holding or combat keeps it distinct though its cryptic style may test patience.

Storyline

You play as a man who finds himself lost in a dark street somewhere in the city of New Wenders. It doesn’t take long before you start having flashbacks and regaining your memory. Something terrible happened, and you were part of it. This event somehow opened your eyes to a whole new world that has been hiding beneath the shadows. As the player, you have the choice to dig deeper into this unspeakable deed or try to leave it all behind. Blackout is a game about choices, every chapter of the game takes place in a different location, and the order in which the chapters take place will change based on your choices. Even more so, the path you take inside each chapter varies greatly, and the effect of your choices could ripple across all chapters, meaning you could have a completely different experience on a new playthrough.
