Blood II: The Chosen is a first-person shooter that ramps up the chaos from its 1996 predecessor. You play as Caleb, a brooding antihero battling a secret society called the Cabal while figuring out cosmic threats. The campaign mixes visceral combat against grotesque enemies with black humor and occult lore. Gunplay feels weighty with an array of brutal weapons while the single-player story leans into over-the-top drama. Online multiplayer lets you team up or turn on each other in fast-paced deathmatches or cooperative missions. The game’s 1998 release pushed technical limits with a newer 3D engine that rendered more detailed environments and grotesque creatures. Critics noted its gorefest sequences and creative level design which let blood splatter in satisfyingly messy ways.
