Blood in Baldur's Gate is a free visual novel set in the same universe as Baldur's Gate III but 15 years prior. Developed by Larian Studios, it drops you in the middle of a murder investigation unfolding across the city's alleys and taverns. Played in a web browser, it relies on text-driven dialogue and player choices to shape the story. During its initial run in summer 2023, players voted on which locations to explore next, making the narrative path a group effort. The voting period ended July 6, but the final version remains available to follow the community's chosen route. The game’s biggest draw was its collaborative storytelling. Over 2 million players participated in the live polls, directly influencing the investigation’s direction. While shorter than Larian’s usual projects, it offers a condensed glimpse into the studio’s worldbuilding and dialogue design. Fans of Baldur’s Gate III might recognize familiar names and settings, though this standalone story works fine on its own.
