Bloodbark is a tense survival horror game where you play a lumberjack tasked with harvesting rare redwood trees in a remote forest. The catch? These trees bleed and seem to notice your presence. Over the course of a week you must cut them down while avoiding their violent reactions. The environment shifts around you as the trees actively try to stop your work. Minimal dialogue focuses attention on the unsettling atmosphere and the growing sense that you’re being hunted by something ancient and aware. The game’s most striking feature is its heavy use of surreal, unsettling artwork from Eduardo Valdés-Hevia. His paintings form the visual foundation of the world, making every frame feel like a living horror illustration. Early access reviews highlight the short but effective runtime, about four to six hours, leaving players with a lingering sense of unease. The trees don’t just react passively; they adapt, creating a dynamic threat that feels personal. While some found the simplicity repetitive, others praised its focus on psychological tension over jump scares.
Your job is to cut down the Bloodbark trees, highly priced for their exotic red wood. The trees are bleeding, but that is natural in this species. Just one week and you are gone. But the trees are aware of your presence. They know your intentions. They will fight back.
