Blue Dragon Plus continues the story from its predecessor a year later as the world deals with strange cube worlds. You control a party of characters using the DS stylus to navigate maps in real time. Combat triggers automatically when enemies get close letting you switch between managing movement and issuing commands mid battle. The game balances exploration and tactical positioning across open areas with the handheld's dual screens handling both navigation and action. The sequel adds new threats and characters while keeping the core gameplay familiar. Mistwalker's work here shows a clear focus on intuitive controls for the DS hardware. While not a massive departure from the first game it offers a polished experience with a runtime that clocks in around 30 hours according to player logs. The cube world setting provides varied environments that players find visually distinct even with the DS's technical limits.
From the Wikia: "One year after the events of the original game, the world continues to embrace and explore the cube worlds that resulted from the opening of the planet's core. One day King Jibral and Zola encounter a mysterious evil dragon shadow at one of the cubes. Zola has a bad feeling about it and after informing Shu and the party, they find themselves on another adventure to discover this new threat."
