Bombing Quest is a top-down RPG that swaps traditional swords and spells for explosives. You control a dwarf trapped in a mechanical exosuit using timed bomb placements to battle enemies across grid-based levels. Each map requires careful planning as you navigate ancient ruins and overgrown temples avoiding hazards while dispatching waves of monsters and clunky automatons. A small robot companion offers limited support but survival mostly depends on your ability to detonate strategically. The game’s charm comes from its quirky worldbuilding and methodical combat. You play as the last guardian of a forgotten civilization uncovering cryptic lore about a mysterious ark while fending off relentless foes. The mix of slow-paced exploration and high-stakes bomb placements creates a tense rhythm. While the 2020 release date means it’s already aged a bit its tactical depth and retro aesthetic still appeal to fans of old-school strategy games.
You wake up as a dwarf, chained in an exosuit with no memory of the past. What surrounds you are the walls of an ancient temple. Your only guides are mysterious shrines. Your only ally is a friendly robot - the suit support unit. You make your way out of the temple to find out that its builders have long been forgotten. Humans have settled over the ruins of the old empire. Fierse monsters roam across the land. Dangerous insects lurk in the shadows. Ancient rusty automatons keep digging towards the core of the world with the same relentless persistence they had in the day they were abandoned. In the middle of all of this is you - the last guardian of a mysterious ark, with your only weapon - the bombs that your suit produces.
