Boomerang Kid is a side scrolling platformer where you navigate a boy through desert environments to collect scattered boomerangs. Each level requires jumping over obstacles dodging enemies and reaching checkpoints while managing limited continues. The controls feel tight for a 1991 release with precise movement and responsive jumps. Levels mix open terrain with tight platforming sections sometimes requiring multi screen jumps. This obscure title stands out as one of Codemasters earliest NES games despite being part of an unlicensed compilation. While not widely reviewed the game maintains a cult following among retro collectors. The boomerang retrieval mechanic adds a minor twist to standard platformer loops and the outback setting brings some visual variety. It remains a decent but forgotten example of early 90s NES development.
The Boomerang Kid must retrieve all of his boomerangs scattered throughout the outback.
