About

Border Down is a side-scrolling shooter where you pilot a fighter through six stages filled with waves of enemies. You manage a power meter that grows by defeating foes, letting you unleash a devastating super attack but weakening regular fire until it recharges. Each level has three distinct paths called "borders", start on the top route, and losing sends you down to the next, each with shifted enemy placements and backgrounds. Survive all the way to the bottom border and you fail. The game uses 3D polygon graphics for its time and offers arcade, remix, and practice modes to tweak difficulty and objectives. The border system adds replayability by changing enemy patterns and visuals based on your path. The final stage has four alternate versions to unlock. While its 2003 release date and Dreamcast exclusivity keep it niche, fans praise its tight controls and escalating tension. No online leaderboards or modern updates exist but the core loop holds up for short bursts of action.
