Brick Breaker is a no-nonsense arcade game where you use a paddle to bounce a ball and demolish brick walls. Each level gives you three chances to clear every brick before losing a life. The ball bounces until it slips past your paddle or hits unbreakable barriers. You control the paddle with touch, a mouse, or a trackwheel depending on your device. The game cycles through 34 increasingly tricky stages where layout and timing matter more than speed. Power-ups in some versions let you fire multiple balls or incendiary shots but the base gameplay stays pure. Digital Chocolate's take on the Breakout template landed on phones in 1999 and still plays cleanly today. The simplicity of hitting bricks and managing lives feels familiar but effective. Community ratings on iOS average 4.3 stars with players noting how easy it is to play in short bursts. While not impressive, the game nails the fundamentals of reactive gameplay. Its presence on early mobile devices helped introduce a generation to the genre. If you missed it back then it’s a solid throwback with nothing flashy but everything you need to keep swatting bricks.

Storyline

Brick Breaker (platformer) is a Breakout clone in which the player must smash a wall of bricks by deflecting a bouncing ball with a paddle. The paddle may move horizontally and is controlled with the BlackBerry's trackwheel, the computer's mouse or the touch of a finger (in the case of touchscreen). The player gets three lives to start with; a life is lost if the ball hits the bottom of the screen. When all the bricks have been destroyed, the player advances to a new, harder level. There are 34 levels. Many levels have unbreakable silver bricks. If all lives are lost, the game is over. There are many versions of brick breaker, some in which you can shoot flaming fireballs or play with more than one ball if the player gets a power up.
