Broken Covenant started life as a tentatively planned Silent Hill game for the PlayStation 3 before becoming its own survival horror title. You play as Father Hector Santos, who travels to an abandoned military base in Arizona to find his niece Anna. The cult has taken her there to use her powers for demonic rituals. The story moves away from the foggy streets of Silent Hill and places you in the dusty Southwest where a splinter group tries to summon Samael. You navigate through dark corridors and face off against monsters while searching for clues about what happened to the girl. This project never saw an official release after Konami passed on it and other publishers lost interest. It was meant to come out in episodes but got shelved completely. Fans who track down leaked builds or concept art often discuss how close this came to being a real sequel. The setting in Coyote Flats offers a fresh backdrop compared to the usual locations in the series. Many players feel it missed its chance to expand the lore beyond Alessa's corruption spreading across America.
