Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse is a point-and-click adventure that brings back the series' classic 2D visuals with a modern twist. Control George Stobbart and Nicole Collard as they investigate a stolen painting and a murder at an art gallery. The game uses a smart cursor system where left and right clicks trigger different actions, letting you gather and use objects to solve puzzles. Some challenges require manipulating objects in close-up views like fixing a car's horn by connecting wires. Dialogue with recurring characters and shifting perspectives between the two protagonists drive the investigation forward. The return to traditional point-and-click mechanics earned praise from longtime fans. The mystery weaves in real-world history with fictional conspiracies around the Gnostic Gospels. With over 10 million copies sold across its 30-year history, the series maintains its reputation for clever writing and challenging puzzles. Available on multiple platforms including Switch and PC, it preserves the deliberate pacing and atmospheric storytelling that defined earlier entries.
The story plot centers around the painting La Maledicció. George Stobbart and Nicole Collard witness as a masked man steals La Maledicció and kills the gallery owner. Both have their motivations to solve the crime, George works for the painting's insurer, Nico is a reporter and the police are incompetent, and so they unravel a conspiracy which is somehow connected to the Gnostic Gospels.
