BS Zelda no Densetsu Map 2 is a sequel built on a modified version of the original Legend of Zelda formula. Played as a customizable avatar instead of Link, the game follows a familiar structure of exploring dungeons and collecting Triforce fragments. Each of the eight dungeons hides two pieces, split across biweekly releases to match the Satellaview broadcast schedule. Combat and puzzles mirror 8-bit Zelda mechanics but with updated visuals and sound. The game uses the Soundlink system for live orchestral tracks and voice narration, blending traditional action with serialized storytelling. This title stands out as one of the few games designed specifically for the Satellaview’s niche broadcast model. Players had to tune in at set times for events and updates, creating a shared experience rare in 90s gaming. Though largely overlooked due to its obscure platform, it retains a cult following for its creative use of hardware and faithfulness to Zelda’s core loop. Released in late 1995, it’s a time capsule of experimental game distribution.
At the beginning of the game, the character automatically walks into a cave, where the Old Man gives him or her the Wooden Sword. The character must complete all eight dungeons and obtain the eight pieces of the Triforce. Two of the pieces are available in each week.
