About

Bubblegum Crash is a 1991 point-and-click adventure built around a sci-fi anime universe. You play as members of the Knight Sabers, a female mercenary squad fighting corporate crime in a Tokyo split by disaster. The game uses a command menu system for dialogue, object interaction, and movement. Each level shifts perspective between team members as you gather evidence and question suspects. Text is in Japanese with English command options. The interface resembles a comic book layout, blending static artwork with clickable hotspots to advance the investigation. This niche title stands out for its edgy 90s futurism and cult following. Set in a world where robots commit crimes and underfunded police struggle, it mixes cyberpunk grit with visual-novel pacing. The TurboGrafx-16 original released in December 1991, later ported to PC. Fans praise its sharp narrative direction and how it adapts the OVA’s aesthetic into a puzzle-driven format. A curiosity for retro gamers but still fresh in its blend of mystery and mecha action.

Storyline

Straight from the series comes the digital comic adventure for PC Engine. Upon investigating a recent bank robbery incident, you soon learn that things aren’t quite what they appear to be. The game is played through a pick and click “digital comic” interface, requiring gathering clues and items and pestering… I mean interrogating anyone who might be suspicious or otherwise!
