Burnout Dominator returns to the high-octane chaos of the series with a single-player focus on chaining explosive stunts and reckless driving. Players execute continuous high-speed drifts, near misses, and mid-air maneuvers to fill a boost meter and trigger Burnouts, spectacular crashes that reset the meter for more mayhem. Four distinct modes challenge you to maximize score multipliers by chaining these actions: one prioritizes drifting distance, another near-miss collisions, and two blend both with escalating risk. The game drops online features and traffic-based combat from earlier entries but keeps a tight 12-track roster across eight real-world locations. Each circuit offers forward and reverse layouts to mix up the mayhem. The PSP version adds a basic leaderboard system through Burnout HQ, letting players upload and download scores. While the lack of multiplayer and Crash Mode might frustrate series veterans, the emphasis on pure destruction loops and tight track design earned it a 78% critic score on Metacritic. The simplified mechanics and focus on single-player challenges make it a shorter but punchier entry in the Burnout lineage. The portable version’s 2007 release let fans replay the action on the go, though the absence of deeper customization or progression systems keeps it from matching the longevity of its successors.
