Buzz! The Music Quiz turns your PlayStation 2 into a party-friendly trivia arena. Up to four players use handheld remotes to answer music-themed questions before the clock runs out. The game spans six decades of global hits with over 5,000 questions and 1,000 audio clips from 1950s classics to 2005 chart-toppers. Choose a character like a punk rocker or disco enthusiast to represent you as you battle through solo challenges or head-to-head matches. The quizmaster Buzz and assistant Rose keep the energy high with crowd sounds and theme music that mimic a live game show. The game’s charm comes from its lively presentation and deep music library. Each clip is a real-world hit rather than a cover version, making it a nostalgic trip for genre fans. Characters are loosely inspired by pop icons but avoid direct parodies. Leaderboards and memory card saves let you track progress over time. While the 2005 release date means the track list feels dated now, it remained a staple for PlayStation 2 households looking for quick, competitive fun. Its simple mechanics and focus on music history make it a straightforward but effective quiz experience.
Hosted by the computer animated, ever-smiling Buzz and his assistant Rose, the game creates the illusion that the players are in an actual quiz show, complete with buzzers, theme songs and canned audience clapping/laughter. Jason Donovan is the voice of Buzz in the UK and Australia. Different voice-actors are used across Europe for Buzz and Rose. Players can choose from 16 different contestants to suit that persons personal music taste. These include a pop diva (Gina), a rocker (Phil), a punk, an Elvis (Pelvis) and a disco dude (Stevie). These characters resemble famous pop musicians such as Gwen Stefani, Liam Gallagher and Geri Halliwell and Bob Marley. There are over 1,000 music clips, all of which are international chart-toppers from the 1950s through to 2005 and over 5,000 questions to test a players knowledge, either by playing solo in a fast paced single-player mode or with friends/family in the multi-player game. None of the music clips are original recordings. Players can also choose to play in short bursts, or over a longer period. All wins and losses can be saved to Memory cards for players to refer to at a later date.
