Cake Ninja 2 builds on the premise of its DSiWare predecessor by letting you slice through layers of cake in quick bursts of motion. Using the touch screen you draw lines to split desserts into equal parts aiming for maximum slices with each move. The game mixes timed challenges with puzzles that require precise cuts rewarding efficiency and speed. New obstacles and cake varieties add slight wrinkles to the formula keeping the mechanics fresh without overcomplicating them. Released in 2012 the sequel tightens up the controls and adds 50 new stages compared to the first game. While it never hits the same level of polish as later touch-based puzzle titles it remains a solid time killer for fans of quick casual gameplay. The Nintendo DSi platform keeps it accessible though the lack of online leaderboards limits long term replayability.
