About

Call of Saregnar brings back the feel of 90s party-based RPGs with a modern twist. You control a small group of adventurers investigating disappearances and murder in the village of Avanmoor. The world uses low-poly graphics with billboard trees, while characters appear as photographs or video frames of real actors. Combat takes place on a hex grid where you plan moves carefully each turn. Your party includes a knight, a magic student, and a rogue friend who all interact within this handcrafted environment. The game stands out for its low-fantasy setting that avoids common tropes like giant rats and slimes. Instead of standard monsters, you deal with political intrigue and twelve different gods offering unique spells if you give them offerings. Players can pray or sacrifice valuables to gain favor, though some deities are harder to please than others. Community ratings show this title holds a 4.2 out of 5 on PlayPile, suggesting players enjoy the blend of mystery and tactical combat. The story moves quickly from a simple village murder to a conflict involving actual gods.

Storyline

The village of Avanmoor sleeps uneasily as people start disappearing and their lord is mysteriously murdered in his chambers at night. An unlikely party – a dutiful knight, an auspicious student of magic and his roguish friend – couldn’t possibly imagine that a quest to find the baron’s assassin would lead them in the middle of a battle between gods. Saregnar lets you role-play through a deep and engaging story filled with murder, mystery, intrigue and suspense. The world is an original fantasy setting inspired by a range of historical nations. You’ll be pleased to find that giant rats and slimes have been evicted from this universe. There are 12 gods to please and gain their favor, each god being a source of unique magic spells. To gain divine favor, pray and give offerings in the form of money, food or other valuables, but mind you, not every deity can be easily pleased.
