About

Campfire Tales is a point-and-click story game split into three distinct episodes linked by a shared campfire setting. Each episode plays like a visual novel with light RPG elements, requiring minimal input beyond clicking to advance dialogue and choices. The first follows a group reflecting on a past camping trip, the second shifts to a family targeted by a witch named Baba Yaga, and the third reimagines you as a sentient rubber ball. The 8-bit art and slow pacing prioritize narrative over action, with branching paths that rarely alter outcomes. The game’s charm comes from its unpredictable tonal shifts, from grounded reminiscence to dark fantasy to surreal comedy. While the writing leans casual, some players note dialogue feels repetitive. Community feedback highlights the quirky creativity of the rubber ball segment, which divides audiences but earns praise for its bold weirdness. Available on PC and Game Boy, the retro presentation feels intentional, matching the fireside storytelling vibe. At just a few hours per episode, it’s a low-stakes pick for those seeking oddball narratives over polished mechanics.

Storyline

This chromatic, casual, linier, interactive story game centers around a campfire with old friends telling... tales. The first story is a true story about a camping trip. The second story follows a father and two children. A witch, Baba Yaga kidnaps the children! The final story, we wake up as a rubber ball and have an adventure from there.
