Camphor is a brief visual novel where you guide a worm through a forest filled with rocks, trees, and flickering fireflies. The gameplay is minimal but evocative, focusing on a quiet journey shaped by simple interactions and ambient sound design. Inspired by the Boards of Canada album The Campfire Headphase, the game uses abstract visuals and looping melodies to evoke a meditative, almost dreamlike atmosphere. There's no complex story or dialogue, just a short, slow experience that lingers on mood over mechanics. What stands out is its deliberate simplicity and nostalgic tone. Created in two hours as a spontaneous project, it feels like a digital sketchbook entry, blending childhood wonder with a hint of melancholy. Fireflies act as the game’s quiet heartbeat, their glow punctuating the screen in brief bursts. At under a minute long, Camphor isn’t a game you’ll stick with for hours.
