Candy Creeps casts you as Elma or Harper, two fourth-graders facing off against the Pumpking, a candy-hoarding gourd overlord. The goal is straightforward: smash his pumpkin soldiers to reclaim stolen sweets, then eat them to power up and fight back. Gameplay bounces between platforming, brawling, and frantic sugar-fueled boss battles. Switch between characters, wield goofy weapons like candy canes and pies, and team up locally for co-op chaos. Each of the four levels throws new obstacles, from floating islands to candy-coated castles, with high-score potential driving repeat plays. The game’s charm is in its simplicity and sibling-like energy. Bright, pixelated visuals lean into a DIY aesthetic that feels nostalgic but occasionally undercooked, community feedback notes graphics resembling early-2000s laptop art. Still, the zany humor and responsive controls keep it engaging, especially with a friend. With 189.9 hours logged by one reviewer (who called it a “total L” but praised the “cute” concept), it’s clear the game splits opinions. But for quick bursts of sugary action and a story about kids fighting a pumpkin tyrant, it hits the mark.
Elma and Harper were not the sort of kids to get into the bad kind of mischief on Halloween. Yes, they egged people's houses, but they used cage-free eggs! And the toilet paper in the trees was always 2-ply for extra comfort. If the neighbors were unhappy, they shouldn't have given out raisins and dental floss! So it was something of a surprise to these considerate fourth-graders when the Pumpking emerged that night to take their entire candy haul (even the rare full-size bars!). Now, using only their wits, the power of sugar, and several very sharp knives, these tweens are on a mission to take back their sweet earnings.
