Cannon Spike is a fast paced top down shooter where you pick from a cast of Capcom characters and blast through stages filled with enemies and bosses. Each run mixes up the order of levels and challenges you to clear them with quick reflexes and weapon swaps. Movement feels tight for a run and gun game with smooth shooting mechanics and punchy explosions. The stages are short but packed with hazards and mid boss encounters that test your skills before the final showdowns. The split screen co op is a highlight letting two players team up for local chaos. It launched on Dreamcast and arcade cabinets in 2000 with a focus on simple but satisfying action. While not as polished as later entries in the genre the random stage order and character choices keep things fresh for replayability. The roster includes familiar faces from Capcom’s library adding a nostalgic edge for long time fans.
