Cape's Escape Game 4th Room is a brief but snappy puzzle adventure where you play a broke protagonist stuck in a suspiciously cheap hot spring inn. The story starts with a cringey romantic misstep and quickly spirals into a classic escape room setup. You’ll search for clues, solve environmental puzzles, and piece together a goofy mystery to get out of your 1980-yen predicament. The game moves at a brisk pace, wrapping up in under an hour with just enough charm to make the silly premise stick. The real draw is the quirky humor and the cozy yet trapped atmosphere of the traditional Japanese ryokan. The puzzles are straightforward but satisfying, leaning into the genre’s strengths without overcomplicating things. While it’s clearly a budget title, the deadpan writing and over-the-top scenario give it a niche appeal. Casual players looking for a quick, lighthearted escape room experience might find it hits the right notes, even if the jokes land a little awkwardly.
The main character invites his girlfriend Todomi out on a super low-cost trip to the hot springs. Of course, Todomi rejects him. Being super low-cost, he can’t cancel his trip. Heartbroken with tears in his eyes, he forces himself to set off on his trip. But even 1980 yen is way too cheap for a trip with meals included. Sure enough, turns out that the main character's one night stay is not at some ordinary Japanese-style inn. It comes with an escape game. Solve riddles to help the main character escape from this traditional Japanese hot spring inn.
