Car Licence splits its time between teaching basic driving skills and blasting cars with a machine gun. The first half walks you through vehicle controls and road rules while the second half quizzes you on traffic signs. The final mode throws you into a chaotic shooter where you eliminate cars inching toward a painted line. Controls feel stiff on the Game Gear but the contrast between tutorial mode and sudden violence creates a weirdly engaging rhythm. This oddball 90s title remains a footnote in driving sim history but its mix of rote learning and mindless shooting has gained a cultish reputation. With only 1600 units sold and a 6.2/10 on rawscore it works best as a curiosity rather than a lesson plan. The sudden shift from "how to brake" to "how to kill your fellow drivers" feels less like a game and more like a glitch in reality.
