Castle Morihisa blends deck-building with tactical turn-based combat in a rogue-like structure. As a spy sent to investigate a walled-off castle, you craft a deck from earned cards and relics to fight through procedurally generated floors. Each battle lets you summon historical heroes with unique skills, balancing offense and defense as you adapt to shifting threats. Progress carries over between runs, letting you stack permanent upgrades while testing new strategies. The game leans into its challenge, demanding precise card synergies and timing. Only 2.9% of players have unlocked the "One-hit Kill" achievement out of 33 total, reflecting its difficulty curve. Set during Japan’s Sengoku period, the story unfolds through sparse but intriguing logs as you push deeper into the castle. Community playtime averages 18 hours, with many returning for new combinations. The mix of rogue-like risk and deck-building creativity keeps runs fresh, even after multiple failures.
After general Tokugawa of the shogunate issued the "Laws for the Military Houses" to his vassals, none of the emissaries sent to the Ishikawas in Castle Morihisa have returned. Rumors claim that Lord Ishikawa Shinjuku was attempting to usurp the throne, and that he closed off all roads to the castle a few days prior. The great metsuke Yagyū Munenori requires a spy to make their way to Castle Morihisa to learn the truth of what is going on.
