Castlevania Legends drops you into 15th century Transylvania as Sonia Belmont, a whip-wielding ancestor of the seriesā famous vampire hunters. This Game Boy title tasks you with fending off hordes of monsters across six stages that mix platforming and beat āem up action. Each level crams tight corridors and open areas with enemies to slash through, from ghouls to giant spiders. You can backtrack to find hidden paths and collect heart torches for extra lives. Difficulty settings let you adjust the challenge, though the game still favors quick reflexes and precise jumps. This one stands out as the seriesā earliest entry in its own timeline, introducing Sonia and her rivalry with Alucard before they became recurring fixtures. While its 1997 release date and handheld limitations keep the production humble, fans note its role in shaping later Castlevania lore. The clock tower levels and Draculaās final showdown pack the most memorable moments, with some players citing it as a surprisingly robust entry for a 8-bit system.
he story begins in Transylvania in the year 1450. In the game (although not the series' overall canon), Sonia Belmont is the first Belmont to confront Dracula. She also meets Alucard who seeks revenge against his father Dracula.[2][3] After Dracula's defeat, he swears to Sonia that as long as there is evil in the world, he will be resurrected, and in response she swears her family will always defeat him. The game was also the first game in the series timeline until Lament of Innocence.
