You pilot a small spacecraft through narrow tunnels and twisting caverns in Cavern Creatures. The goal is to stay alive by blasting obstacles in your path or dodging them as they come. The environment scrolls upward steadily but you must keep moving forward with no option to stop. The game’s relentless pace and tight controls make it tough but fair. Fixed scrolling and a need for constant movement create a frantic feel that still works today. Released in 1983 and built for the Apple II, it’s a simple arcade shooter that plays fast and plays clean.
