Chinese Hero is a side-scrolling beat ’em up from 1984 that lets you team up with a friend for brawling action. You play as a warrior fighting through waves of enemies using punches, kicks, and grabs. The game's overhead perspective and simple controls make it easy to pick up but tough to master. Originally released on arcade machines, it later arrived on the NES as Kung Fu Heroes, keeping the same fast-paced combat and co-op play. This title helped set the blueprint for co-op brawlers, though it lacks the RPG elements seen in later entries. Its straightforward approach and two-player support made it a hit in arcades, and retro fans still praise the tight action. As part of the long-running Super Chinese series, it's a landmark in early cooperative gameplay. The NES version sticks close to the arcade feel, proving that small teams could make big impacts back in the day.
