Combat follows classic turn-based rules but the real challenge comes from managing resources and party health as you dig deeper. This 1982 title is credited with starting the Japanese RPG genre. Though its interface feels rudimentary by today's standards it laid groundwork for later classics by introducing structured character progression and persistent world mechanics. With no graphics to distract it focuses on strategy and economy making it a cult classic among genre purists. Its influence can be seen in later dungeon crawlers despite its age.
