Chop Suey is a one-on-one martial arts brawler for the Atari 8-bit where two fighters square off in a boxing ring-style arena. Landing hits fills your opponent's pain meter, let it max out and a flashing POW symbol means one more strike drops them. But don’t get too focused: scorpions scuttle across the stage from vents, ready to sting unwary players. Matches last until you land eight knockouts or time runs out, with each win unlocking tougher opponents. The scorpion hazard adds chaotic urgency few games of 1985 attempted. Simple mechanics mask strategic depth requiring players to balance offense and survival. Released in August 1985 it’s a relic of early fighting games when the genre was still figuring out its footing. The audience’s rowdy reactions don’t help when you’re dodging bugs mid-fight.
