Chubby Bear Smash is an indie fighting game where a rotund bear squabbles with bees over a honey stash. Using webcam motion controls you swing punches and dodge stings in top down brawls. The single player mode tasks you with shaking hive-filled trees and fending off swarms. Simple combat mechanics mix with slapstick physics as you flail limbs and get pelted by pollen. The game’s goofy premise and physical input stand out in a sea of button mashing brawlers. Player forums note the 2021 release carved a niche with its 78% Metacritic score. While the story of a bear’s lunchtime heist is brief the over the top animations and responsive motion tracking keep matches lively. Runnex Technology’s creation appeals to those wanting a lighthearted alternative to gritty fighting games.
It would be just another happy day in the forest if the bear didn't feel the rumble in his tummy. It's time to look for something to eat and that's when the bear sees the bees pass by with the recently harvested sweet nectar. The bear follows the bees by instinct into the forest because it knows that there will be more honey stored somewhere. They go deeper and deeper until the bees stop at a giant tree upon which the nest is built. The bear shows itself and immediately strikes the trees to make the nest falls but the bees won't let that happens and swarm out to defend their nest. Could the bear win this fight and claim its prize or it would lose to the force of bees?
