Clock Tower is a point-and click survival game where you guide Jennifer Simpson through a creepy mansion to avoid a deadly stalker. Set in a fixed-camera 2D world, you collect items solve puzzles and hide from Scissorman a knife-wielding pursuer who hunts you in real time. The tension comes from limited visibility narrow corridors and the constant risk of being caught. Gameplay mixes exploration with timing as you balance uncovering the mansion's secrets while staying alive. The game’s eerie atmosphere and claustrophobic design stood out for its era. Released in 1995 it helped define early survival horror with its focus on stealth over combat. Though primitive by modern standards its simple mechanics and suspenseful chases earned it a cult following. Now available on multiple platforms including PC and Wii the game remains a footnote in the genre’s history but retains its nervy charm for fans of retro horror.
Jennifer Simpson is a child from the fictional Granite Orphanage in Romsdalen, Norway. She and her friends, who are also orphans (Laura Harrington, Anne and Lotte) are adopted in September 1995 (the same month the game was released) by a wealthy recluse named Simon Barrows, who lives in a mansion known as the "Clock Tower", named after its predominant feature. The game immediately begins with these characters walking towards the Barrows mansion and settling in the main foyer. Mary, the woman who brought the children to the mansion, leaves to find Mr. Barrows, but she takes an unusually long time. Jennifer offers to investigate, but upon leaving the room, a scream is heard from the main foyer. Jennifer returns to find the lights are off and the girls are missing.
