Clockwork Knight is a side-scrolling platformer with 2.5D visuals. You control Pepper, a toy soldier racing to save a captured fairy princess. The game unfolds across four themed rooms, each with two levels and a boss fight. You'll navigate pre-rendered 3D environments while avoiding hazards and enemies. Combat focuses on timing and pattern recognition as you face off against five unique bosses. The mix of side-scrolling action and 3D backdrops was bold for 1994. Each room offers distinct challenges like navigating a kitchen maze or dodging traps in an attic. Boss battles demand precise reflexes and memorizing attack patterns. The story of a clumsy toy soldier on a heroic quest adds charm to the mechanical gameplay. With eight levels packed into a concise campaign, it rewards quick thinking over long play sessions.
Sir Tongara de Pepperouchau III ("Pepper" for short) is a toy soldier. He is in love with the Clockwork Fairy Princess, Chelsea, whose voice wakes up the toys of the house every night at midnight. But he is clumsy and something of a laughingstock, especially when compared to his friendly rival Ginger who is also after Chelsea's heart. One night Chelsea is stolen away by an unknown force, which also hypnotizes some of the lesser toys to become fierce minions and stand in the way of anyone who would try to rescue her. If there's no voice to wake them up anymore then the toys will never live again, so Pepper and Ginger head off to find Chelsea before it's too late.
