Stryker's Run is a 1987 platformer where you guide a soldier through a single scrolling battlefield to escape an attack plan. As Commander Stryker, you use a laser pistol and grenades to fight Volgan forces armed with everything from rifles to rocket launchers. Along the way you can hijack aircraft for limited air support and rely on allied troops who fire back but often make things trickier. The action never leaves one continuous side-scrolling level filled with hazards and hostile forces. Though short in length, the game still holds up for its tight combat and varied enemy tactics. It runs on old British home computers like the BBC Micro and Acorn Electron. Despite limited modern availability, it remains a cult favorite among retro gaming fans. The mix of resource management and chaotic firefights keeps things engaging even with just one level to conquer.
