About

Combat Two is a sequel to the original Atari 2600 tank battler Combat, adding new layers to its simple formula. Players steer tanks that move forward automatically, focusing on aiming and timing to outlast opponents. Arenas include rivers, forests for cover, and breakable walls, with three lives and three hits per life before elimination. The graphics receive a modest upgrade from the 1982 original, but the core remains fast-paced, no-frills combat. Cancelled during development in 1982 and linked to the 1983 industry crash, the game resurfaced in 2005 on the Atari Flashback 2. A prototype version sold at a 2001 gaming expo revealed a hidden level editor, surprising collectors. It later appeared in DS and mobile compilations, drawing attention from retro enthusiasts. Mentioned in Retro Gamer’s "Games That Weren’t" section, its cult status stems from its lost-and-found history rather than gameplay depth.
