Command & Conquer is a real-time strategy game that never launched, developed by Victory Games for Windows. Players would have built bases, gathered resources, and commanded units in skirmish matches or campaign missions. Originally designed as a sequel to Generals, it shifted to a free-to-play multiplayer focus with paid campaigns. The Frostbite 3 engine promised modern visuals but didn't materialize due to the project's cancellation. The game's story is more memorable than its gameplay. After a 2012 rebrand from Generals 2 to a free multiplayer-focused title, EA halted development in 2013 after internal testing. Community backlash against the monetization model and shifting design goals doomed the project. Victory Games closed soon after. While no playtests exist, fans speculate the title might have split the difference between classic C&C tactics and modern free-to-play mechanics. The attempt to revitalize a 90s IP with 2010s systems remains a footnote in the series' history.
