Computer Golf is a minimalist golf simulation that turns your Odyssey 2 into a putting course. Up to four players take turns navigating a geometric 9-hole layout, using joysticks to position their pixelated golfer. Swings are controlled by holding the action button, longer holds launch wilder drives. Trees and rough areas penalize wayward shots, while the screen zooms in on putts. Shared controllers mean players 1 and 3 share the left stick, and 2 and 4 the right. Released in 1978, this early title leans into its hardware’s limitations with charm. The close-up green view and expressive golfer reactions when hitting hazards feel surprisingly clever for the era. With holes ranging from par 3 to 5 and a total par of 36, it’s a brisk but authentic slice of 70s gaming. The lack of modern polish only highlights its historical curiosity, arcade golf in the dawn of home consoles.
