About

Contra Force is a side-scrolling run-and-gun shooter from Konami that drops you into the middle of a gritty urban conflict. Released in 1992 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, it swaps the alien invasions of earlier Contra games for a human threat, terrorists targeting a futuristic city. You play as C-Force agents taking on waves of enemies across varied environments, from neon-lit streets to industrial zones. The game leans into classic arcade-style difficulty, with tight controls and a focus on fast-paced action. Players can tackle missions solo or team up for co-op, making it a solid choice for local multiplayer sessions. While it shares the Contra name, this entry stands apart with its grounded villains and city-based setting. It retains the series’ signature weapon upgrades and explosive set pieces but introduces a more militaristic tone. Though overshadowed by later entries, Contra Force remains a brisk and challenging shooter that showcases the NES’s capabilities. The brief campaign and demanding difficulty may not last long, but the co-op mode adds replay value for fans of old-school arcade action.
