Contra Hard Corps throws you into a sci-fi brawl with mechs, lasers, and alien-tech gone rogue. Play solo or team up to blast through 10 relentless levels, each packed with collapsing platforms, mid-air gunfights, and bosses that fill entire screens. Choose from four soldiers, grab weapons like homing missiles or spike traps, and chain midair jumps to reach hidden paths. The action never slows down, demanding quick reflexes and precise timing as you navigate warzones crawling with mutants and rogue robots. This 1994 Genesis hit pushed hardware limits with 16-bit chaos, showcasing detailed environments and fluid animations for its time. Players can tackle missions in co-op, but be warned, the game scales difficulty based on performance, and death resets progress. Multiple endings hinge on route choices, adding replay value to the already punishing boss battles. With its tight controls and frenetic design, it remains a benchmark for side-scrolling shooters on the platform.
Set in 2641 AD, five years after the "Alien Wars", and three years after the deaths of Black Viper and Emperor Demon Gava, alien cells kept at a military research facility are stolen in a terrorist attack. The Contra Hard Corps, comprised of Ray Poward, Sheena Etranzi, Brad Fang and Browny, are assigned to the investigation. They discover that retired Major Bahamut is implicated, and that he has conspired with Dr. Geo Mandrake to create a biological weapon using the stolen alien cells, as a form of leverage to overthrow the present government. Through their efforts, the Hard Corps manage to thwart Major Bahamut's plans and restore peace once a more.
