C O P The Recruit casts you as Dan Miles a former street racer turned part time detective in a program meant to clean up New York City. You chase leads investigate suspects and navigate a conspiracy after your mentor gets framed for terrorism. The game leans into mystery with occasional action bursts as you balance street smarts with detective work. You interrogate witnesses track down evidence and occasionally take to the streets in high stakes chases. The Nintendo DS touch screen factors into key tasks like searching crime scenes or analyzing files. The story drives most of the appeal with a tangled plot that mixes urban crime and political intrigue. While not graphically flashy by modern standards the handheld format keeps things focused and portable. Released in 2009 it built a modest following among fans of narrative driven adventures. The single player campaign clocks in at around 10 15 hours with optional side cases to extend the experience.
