About

Corpse Party: Cross Fear is a point-and-click horror adventure built with RPG Maker XP. It follows Kaori Hasegawa after she escapes a tragic incident involving her sister Shiho, setting events before the original Corpse Party. Players navigate tense dialogue choices and environmental puzzles while uncovering fragmented memories of the school’s dark history. The game leans heavily on psychological dread over jump scares, with a nonlinear structure that rewards close attention to character interactions and hidden details. The game earned a cult following for deepening the series’ lore and character dynamics. Though its crude visuals and clunky interface date it, fans praise its atmospheric tension and morally ambiguous storytelling. With a Metacritic user score of 7.8, it’s often recommended as essential context for the broader Corpse Party saga. Its focus on grief and denial resonates strongly, making it more than just a prequel, it’s a standalone exploration of how trauma lingers in silence.
